FAQs

Not quite. A sharpening steel realigns the blade's edge rather than removing the metal to create a new edge. For sharpening heavily blunted edges, use a sharpener like the Katana Saya Roller Sharpeners or Whetstones.

Aim for a consistent 15° for Katana Saya knives to match the knife edge. Check the sharpening angle for other knife brands.

3-5 strokes per side is usually enough to realign the edge. Alternate sides evenly to maintain symmetry.

The sharpening steel can be used on most knives but it cannot be used on serrated blades.

Yes, occasionally. Honing maintains the edge, but knives will still need periodic sharpening to stay at their best.

Yes. With a steady hand and consistent angle, it's a simple, safe addition to regular knife care.
