Katana Saya Design

Inspired by tradition. Crafted for today.

At Katana Saya, we draw from the principles that have defined Japanese blade design for generations: precision, balance, simplicity and purpose.

A Katana Saya Pakkwood sashimi kitchen knife with a black wooden handle and Damscus steel single bevel blade lies on a brown cutting board next to a salmon fillet. In the background, another cutting board holds nori seaweed, sliced avocado, celery, and cucumber on a bamboo mat.

Inspired by the Samurai

For centuries, the Samurai represented discipline and unwavering commitment to mastering their craft. The legendary katana sword was a symbol of skill, purpose and respect.

At Katana Saya, we draw inspiration from these enduring values. While our knives are designed for the modern kitchen, they reflect the same appreciation for precision and craftsmanship.

VG-10 Damascus Steel Blades

At the heart of every Katana Saya knife is a precision-forged VG-10 Damascus steel blade chosen for its exceptional balance of sharpness, durability and performance.

Superior Edge Retention

Hardened to 60+ HRC (Rockwell Hardness), the blade delivers outstanding edge retention so it stays sharper for longer.

Japanese Tradition

Our use of Damascus steel pays tribute to the Japanese artistry that has defined its premium blade making for generations.

Built to Last

Made from quality steel, the layered structure provides a combination of hardness and toughness, making it a resilient material.

Striking Layered Pattern

Katana Saya blades are forged from 67 layers of folded VG-10 Damascus steel which creates the distinctive patterned finish, unique to each knife.

Handles Inspired by Nature

A knife should feel as beautiful in the hand as it looks on the worktop. Our handles are inspired by the textures, colours and natural beauty of the world around us.

Olive Wood

The durable, and hardwearing natural olive wood provides stunning grain patterns and warm golden-brown tones. The smooth finish creates a comfortable and secure grip. It features a pearl effect ferrule for added durability and elegance.

Pakkawood

The durable black pakkawood handles offer a natural water resistance thanks to the resin. Its natural glossy finish gives it more scratch resistance and makes it easier to clean. It features a pearl effect ferrule for added durability and elegance.

Rosewood

Natural and durable rosewood handles unite the warm tones of Flame's copper and brass layered Damascus steel. The natural oils in rosewood help protect the handle from moisture and the octagonal shape is favourite amongst chefs.

Ebony

A luxury, hard wood handle with a copper ferrule. The Smoke Collection's dark wood not only looks striking but feels smooth and well balanced on the hand for a comfortable and secure grip. Ebony is naturally moisture resistant and extremely durable.

Pearl Resin

Both elegant and eye catching, the pearl resin handles are inspired by the iridescent effect found inside abalone shells. Resin is an extremely durable material that’s water resistant for a long-lasting kitchen knife.

Elements Resin

These beautifully elegant handles combine a robust olive wood fused with a luxurious resin in three different colours. Each colour represents a force of nature: Ocean Blue, Rainforest Green or Volcanic Red.

Our knives are the result of thoughtful design, quality materials and rigorous manufacturing standards.
